AN EASTER SURPRISE
New faces join both the coaching staff and roster as the Patriots make a number of Easter Weekend moves. Two new coaches are named to the staff while a number of new players are signed during individual tryouts.
Assistant coaches Bill Pritchet and Tony Tubaro were added to the staff this week under Head Coach William Donahue. This will be the first season Coach Pritchet officially joins the staff after having worked three combines for the team. Pritchet is a former Arizona State University Running Back who went on to coach for over 25 years at various locations including in the Chicago Catholic League, one of the nation's top prep leagues. Coach Tubaro makes his debut in the Royal and Scarlet but this will not be his first time on a Minor League sideline. During his nearly 3 decades of coaching, he spent a two years on the Augusta (Georgia) staff. He has also worked at such programs as South Lyon, Brighton, and even in Detroit's own Catholic League.
Former Central Michigan University Safety Zaakir Kareem (6'2, 248) was signed today and looks to compete for a starting role at Tight End. The late 90s Chippewa was recruited as a receiver in college before switching to the defensive backfield his Sophmore year of college. Joining him as new Patriots are Linebacker Matt Jacobs (5'10, 210) and Defensive End Tony DeOrnellas (6'2, 211). Three more athletes visited Patriot facilities this weekend and are expected to sign this week.
